In span of 5 days, we ended up taking 3 flights with Sky Airlines. Our itinerary in Chile placed us at Santiago to begin with. Geographically, Santiago is at the centre of this extremely long country. As per our plan, we first had to go down south to Punta Arenas & then go all the way north to Atacama Desert. To execute this travel, flight was the only option and that’s where Sky Airlines came to the fore.
We flew following three sectors with Sky Airlines:
- Santiago to Punta Arenas
- Punta Arenas to Santiago via Puerto Montt
- Santiago to Calama
As the title suggests, all flights strictly adhered to their schedules. From push back to initiation of boarding to take off to landing, nothing was a minute late than communicated. Food was available on board for purchase. Cabin crew was smart & mostly bi-lingual. There was enough space between the rows that one can work with laptop on.
Online check in was breeze and like Indigo Airlines back home, they also opened it 48 hours before travel time. Additionally, their overhead racks had a nifty system of locking. The light on the panel indicated whether it is correctly locked or not. I saw something like this first time. Red light indicated that the door is ajar & white meant that it is fully shut.
- Better than LATAM as this is much cheaper. But book early..atleast a week in advance if not more.
- Carry your own food as on-board refreshments are both expensive & limited
- Online Check in won’t get you good seats. So, don’t bother !!!
